Everything you need to know about GUDE PDUs

• How can I install a firmware update without switching the power ports?

  Download the latest firmware of the device from our download area below. Then open the web browser of the device that you want to update. Go to the “Maintenance” tab and click on “Choose File”. Select your downloaded firmware and click on “Upload”.

  Important: All settings remain the same as before the firmware update. Also the power port status of our PDUs remains unchanged, i.e. no power ports are switched.

• Which protocols can you use to control GUDE PDUs and query the measured values?

  The self-developed and high-quality software uses the following protocols: REST API, JSON, http/https, SNMP, Modbus TCP, Telnet and MQTT. You can find an overview here.

  With the following texts you can control the PDUs and query our measured values via http/JSON:

  • Control commands
  • Measured values

  For control and query of measured values using the other protocols (command line, Modbus TCP and Telnet) please look into the manual of the respective GUDE product. For MIB tables please refer to our download area of the respective GUDE product.

• Which parameters are measuree?

  The GUDE switched & metered PDUs can measure up to 9 electrical measurands:

  1. Voltage (V)
  2. Current (A)
  3. Frequency (Hz)
  4. Phase angle (°)
  5. Active power (W)
  6. Reactive power (Var)
  7. Apparent power (VA)
  8. Power factor (PF)
  9. Energy (kWh).

  For most PDUs (Expert Power Control 8021, 8031, 8041, 8025, 8035, 8045 and 8291-1) also fault/differential current is measured.

• Which relays are used for switching?

  GUDE uses High Inrush relays in all switched PDUs.

• Can the communication be encrypted?

  Yes, the communication of GUDE devices can be encrypted with HTTPS or SSH.

• How can a sequential switch-on scenario be configured?

  GUDE switchable IP power strips have a switch-on sequence of 1 second by default. This is a safety feature to prevent the fuse from blowing after a power failure.

  To set the power-on sequence of the switched PDUs individually for your installation, go to “Configuration”. There you can set your desired switch-on delay per power port under “Initialization delay”.

• For which manufacturers does GUDE have ready-made plug & play drivers?

• What settings are available in the software of the products?
